Nottingham Forest invited a young fan being bullied at school as a special guest of the son of the club’s owner for their 2-2 draw with Stoke on Saturday.

Freddie, 12, who lives in Nottingham, was treated to a VIP experience at the City Ground thanks to Miltiadis Marinakis, the son of owner Evangelos.

He was also introduced to Forest boss Steve Cooper and right-back Djed Spence – on loan from Middlesbrough – who it is reported he cheekily asked to sign for Arsenal amid links with the north London club after his excellent FA Cup performance against the Gunners.

Miltiadis Marinakis is understood to be involved in the day-to-day ownership of the club while his dad is in charge of Greek giants Olympiacos.

The story comes after his mother Fran went on Twitter earlier this month to detail the struggles  her son – whose second team is Arsenal – has been facing.

‘No worse feeling as a parent than when your kid is being bullied. he’s so sad I really don’t know how to cheer him up,’ she posted.

‘Relentless digs about his height, getting pushed about by lads double his size. So unfair. Here is him happy I want this smile back.’

Fran’s post saw the football community offer her and her son support, with Arsenal captain Alexandre Lacazette offering Freddie the chance to go to a game.

‘Hi Fran, really sorry to hear about your son’s situation,’ the Frenchman wrote. ‘I’d love to invite you both to a game. Bullies will never win. Please check your dm.’

Meanwhile, Arsenal Women’s legend Alex Scott also made the same offer for Jonas Eidevall’s side as well as signing her new book How (Not) To Be Strong, tweeting: ‘Fran so sorry to hear this. Lets get him along to the @ArsenalWFC Champions League game in March, I will sit with him.

‘We can both cheer the team on to a win together. I will sign a copy of my book for him in September also. Will DM you to sort it out.’

But Freddie was witness to some late Championship drama at the weekend, with Ryan Yates scoring in the second minute of stoppage time to rescue a point for the hosts in a thrilling 2-2 draw.

Brennan Johnson’s opener was cancelled out by Josh Maja, before Lewis Baker appeared to have got the winner for the visitors with an 88th minute penalty.
