Neymar leaves defender on the floor with footwork – but Mbappe can’t take chance

Neymar continued his sizzling form with a dazzling run during PSG's Ligue 1 win over Lorient – but fans have again blamed Kylian Mbappe for ruining the move of the game.

The former Santos and Barcelona forward looks back to his very best this season having managed 11 goals and nine assists across just 13 domestic outings.

The 30-year-old, who is warming up perfect for Brazil's 2022 World Cup campaign, showed off his brilliance best in one move against Lorient having already scored the opener – but Mbappe couldn't find the finish touch.

After the forward picked up the ball deep inside his own half and beating two opponents with ease and leaving one on the floor before playing the ball, supporters were in delight.

A Ligue 1 fan said: "Neymar he loves having too much fun this season." A second then added: "Twisting ankles & making football beautiful again."

A third posted: "Mbappe he likes too much to spoil the actions of Neymar."

With a fourth concluding: "In 1 action you see the gigantic difference in level between Neymar and Mbappe."

With the scored level at the time of the chance following Neymar's opener, Mbappe hesitated on the hour mark but Danilo Pereira went on to grab their winner.

Fans were no doubt referencing what would've been the 'best assist in history' for Neymar against Troyes last month – with Mbappe fluffing his lines.

Neymar picked up the ball closer to the half-way line than the opposition box before skipping past three Troyes players and completing a spinning back-heel pass to put Mbappe through on goal – but he hit the keeper.

Despite those chances, PSG sit five points clear atop of the table with Neymar managing his 20 goal contributions and Mbappe scoring 11 and assisting two for a tally of 13.

Lionel Messi has also played a vital role, scoring seven and assisting 10 with PSG also through to the knockout stages of the Champions League.
