Neymar ambushed by Brazil fans for pictures – but it’s not actually him

Neymar appeared to be hounded for pictures during Brazil’s World Cup clash with Switzerland – but fans fell for the oldest trick in the book.

The Paris Saint-Germain superstar was spotted strolling around Doha ahead of the Selecao’s second group stage match. Video footage emerged on social media of the Brazilian maestro surrounded by eager fans who took selfies as he appeared to nonchalantly stroll walk down a public street.

He sported a red hat, shades, earrings, headphones and the winger's  beard, before being spotted once more inside Stadium 974 during the match as unsuspecting fans clambered for pictures.

But they were duped as the ‘Neymar’ in question was none other than the 30-year-old’s doppelganger, who had seemingly perfected his characteristics and swagger.

Fans online reacted in hilarious fashion as they saw through the disguise. “If y’all really believe that’s Neymar then Qatar is winning the World Cup,” one Twitter user wrote.

Another commented: “That’s Kneemar” while a third added: “Lmaooo that ain’t him. How ya get fooled this good.”

The prank was helped by the fact Neymar was ruled out of the Switzerland game with an injury he picked up in the 2-0 win over Serbia. Brazil’s talisman was taken off after 79 minutes, having suffered an ankle problem after contact with a Serbian player’s knee.

Neymar appeared emotional on the bench as images showing his swollen ankle circulated on social media. It was later revealed that he would miss the rest of Brazil’s group stage games.

Manager Tite will be hoping the silky playmaker is back in time for the knockout stages. The Brazil boss missed his star man during the 2019 Copa America as a result of torn ligaments in his ankle.
