Newcastle United transfer target Randal Kola Muani has reportedly said “no” to the club’s advances. The FC Nantes striker emerged as a potential target for Eddie Howe’s side after contributing seven goals and three assists in 18 Ligue One appearances.

The versatile forward, who has impressed playing on both wings and through the centre, has also been garnering interest from Marseille and Bundesliga side Eintracht Frankfurt.

With the 23-year-old’s contract set to expire at the end of the season, the Frenchman is currently free to negotiate pre-contract agreements which become enacted at the end of the season.

Newcastle are believed to have cast their hat into the mix, with the club desperately courting a striker to replace the injured Callum Wilson.

Unfortunately, that striker will not be Muani, as reports from French journalist Fabrice Hawkins claim he declined the advances of Howe’s side.

Hawkins also stated the dynamic forward is gravitating towards a move to Germany, with the Bundesliga appearing to be his destination of choice.

While Eintracht Frankfurt are understood to be the favourites for his signature, Hawkins also stated another Bundesliga club have entered the foray for his signature.

Muani is also believed to have turned down Marseille’s advances also, suggesting his heart is set on a move away from France.

The forward’s rejection will be of great frustration to Newcastle, the Magpies were given a huge boost after they completed the £12m signing of Atletico Madrid defender Kieran Trippier.

The former Tottenham Hotspur arrived into the Northeast to complete the finishing touches of a two-and-a-half-year contract.

Trippier is the first new signing to come through the doors of St James’ Park, since a consortium spearheaded by the Saudi Arabian Public Investment Fund (PIF) and the Reuben Brothers purchased the club in October.

Despite the takeover resulting in the club becoming the wealthiest side in the Premier League, Newcastle remain below the dreaded dotted lines in 19th place.

They currently trail 17th placed Watford by two points, who also hold a game in hand over Howe’s men.

Their perilous Premier League position accentuates their desperate need for reinforcements in the January transfer window.

With Trippier’s move now completed, a striker is now at the top of the Magpies’ list.

Incredible reports from the Sun have claimed the Magpies are considering Rangers striker Alfredo Morelos as a potential new signing.

The Colombian is an Ibrox hero having netted 107 goals and contributed 50 assists in 213 appearances for the Blues.

However, the combative striker will not come cheap, as Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s side have put a purported £20m price tag on his head.

Everton and Leicester City could be stiff competition for the Magpies, as they are also reportedly considering a move for Morelos.
