Newcastle line up bid for Man Utd wantaway Martial – with big loan fee
Wantaway Manchester United star Anthony Martial is set to be given an escape route out of Old Trafford, with mega-rich Newcastle reportedly lining a January move for the Frenchman.
Martial has failed to live up to the hefty £58million fee that United paid Monaco for him back in 2015 and has found himself way down the pecking order this season.
He has played just two minutes of Premier League football since Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was sacked and started just four games across the whole season in all competitions.
With no sign of a route into Ralf Rangnick’s plans, Martial is now understood to be ready to cut his stay at Old Trafford short.
And ready to offer him a way out of his Old Trafford nightmare is Newcastle, who are looking to make a splash having been bought by Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund in October.
The Magpies were second bottom of the Premier League after winning just one game heading into their clash with leaders Manchester City on Sunday.
Eddie Howe’s squad is in desperate need of quality reinforcements if they are to mount a survival push.

According to The Sun, Newcastle are aware that their league position will hider their ability to bring in players on permanent deals this winter.
As a result, they will instead turn to the loan market, with Martial emerging as one of their top targets amid his United struggles.
It is stated that they are ready to pay a fee of £6m to bring the Frenchman to St James’ Park for the final five months of the campaign.

The Magpies hope that their willingness to pay more than £1m a month for Martial will see them beat off interest from Juventus.
United are understood to believe that Newcastle’s situation has put them in a strong bargaining position and with two years remaining on his contract, they are hopeful of recouping a significant portion of their original outlay on Martial.
With that in mind, Newcastle are said to be ready to offer a high loan fee and should Martial help them to stay up, a commitment to turn it into a permanent switch will be included.
