Newcastle ‘considering’ £50m move for Ukrainian wonderkid who Arsenal snubbed

Newcastle United are considering making a move for highly-rated Ukrainian star Mykhaylo Mudryk – who had been hotly linked with Arsenal over the summer.

Mudryk has impressed for Shakhtar Donetsk, and the Magpies could pay up to £50million for his services. According to the i, Newcastle are 'considering' making an approach for the Ukrainian youngster, but they could face competition from Liverpool, Everton and the Gunners.

The Ukrainian Neymar, as he has been dubbed in his homeland, is already known to Premier League sides. And Arsenal risk losing out on him after stalling with a move last summer.

Mudryk had issued a come and get me plea to the Gunners: "My dream is to play in Premier League, of course. Arsenal is a very good team, very good manager – so from my side, I can’t say no to Arsenal!"

While Shakhtar’s director of football Darijo Srna said: "Mudryk is a serious talent. After Kylian Mbappe and Vinicius Jr, he’s the best player in Europe in his position.

"If someone wants to buy Mudryk they must spend a lot, a lot, a lot of money and respect our club and our president.”

Srna went on to reveal that Everton made a £26.1million bid, but the Ukrainian side rebuffed the bid – demanding at least £50million for their young star.

One source told the i: “He is tailor-made for English football and every club knows it. He ticks every box technically and his age and relative inexperience mean he’s only going to get better.

“He’s a long way off being the finished article but he’s got all the attributes. He’s undoubtedly one of the most exciting prospects in European football right now.”
