Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman has completed his takeover of Premier League side Newcastle United from Mike Ashley on Thursday evening.

Rumours of a proposed £300million deal started in 2020, but a number of stumbling blocks meant the deal couldn't be completed until Thursday.

Newcastle are now the richest club in football, and Bin Salman has a net worth ten times higher than Manchester City's Sheikh Mansour.

The Saudi Crown Prince also owns what is believed to be 'the most expensive property in the world'.

The new Newcastle owner purchased the sprawling property – located in Versailles, near Paris, France – in 2015 for £230million.

The Chateau Louis XIV started construction in 2008, but it wasn't finished until 2011 before the Crown Prince purchased it in 2015.

Despite just turning ten years old this year, the 52-acre property is modelled after other 17th-century castles in the area.

Bin Salman's 2015 acquisition of the property was the latest in a sequence of a lavish spending spree.

That year bin Salman also splashed out around $500 million for a yacht and a staggering $450 million for a painting from the famed Renaissance artist Leonardo da Vinci.

Despite appearing as 17th century in design, the chateau is kitted out with a hatful of modern features that would be the envy of most modern developments.

The fountains, sound systems, lights and air conditioning around the property are all controlled by an iPhone.

And the property is kitted out with a movie theatre, 10 bedroom suites, a huge reception room with a 52ft-high painted dome ceiling, and a wine cellar that can store up to 3,000 bottles.

Most impressively of all the chateau has a moat that surrounds the building, and includes a transparent underwater chamber with fish such as sturgeon and koi swimming overhead.

Kim Kardashian even considered the property as the backdrop for her marriage to Kayne West.

Newcastle fans surrounded St James Park last night following the news that the takeover had been completed.

His Excellency Yasir Al-Rumayyan, Governor of PIF, following the takeover, said: "We are extremely proud to become the new owners of Newcastle United, one of the most famous clubs in English football.

"We thank the Newcastle fans for their tremendously loyal support over the years and we are excited to work together with them."

Newcastle's fist game under their new ownership will come at home to Tottenham on Sunday 17 October.

The Magpies will be oping for a result to turn their fortunes around so far this season.
