Neville tells Glazers ‘sell Man Utd now’ as Real Madrid unveil revamped Bernabeu

Gary Neville has told the Glazers to "sell Manchester United now" after Real Madrid unveiled their revamped Santiago Bernabeu.

The former United defender has been vocal in his criticism of the club's owners and has echoed supporters' calls for them to sell their stakes in the club sooner rather than later. Fans have called out their American owners for the neglect shown towards Old Trafford in recent years, with some feeling it shows how the club's standards have fallen behind the rest of Europe's elite sides.

Footage of Real Madrid's renovation work of the Bernabeu has again highlighted the issue, with Neville reacting by slamming the Glazers on social media.

Quote tweeting footage of the renovation work, Neville wrote: “To Joel and Avram. Stop delaying the inevitable and sell now.”

The Spanish giants are currently progressing with their renovation of the Bernabeu, with the work set to be completed in 2023 ahead of a planned unveiling of the finished product.

Drone footage shared via the club's social media channels has shown the contrast between the Bernabeu and Old Trafford, which has appeared run down and in need of work in recent months.

The state of the club's stadium has since been used by supporters in their campaign to force the Glazers into selling United and relinquishing their majority stake.

Fans protested against the owners prior to the Red Devils' home win over rivals Liverpool last week, their first league win of the season.

The Glazers also revealed earlier this month that they have put part of their stake up for sale, however, Neville remains unimpressed by their work.

Following the news, he tweeted: "If the reports are true that the Glazer Family are ready to part sell ahead of a full sale it’s totally unacceptable that this is to a US investment fund. Apollo have been mentioned but they need to know they will not be welcomed in Manchester.

"The US model of sports ownership is all about significant return on investment (at all cost ie Super League and Big Picture). The ownership model in England needs to change and US money is a bigger danger to that than any other international money. We need a regulator asap!”
