Manchester United legend Gary Neville has issued a heartfelt apology to Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp over his European Super League comments.
The former defender was left "disgusted" when the two sides were announced along with Manchester City, Arsenal, Chelsea and Tottenham in a breakaway league.
And it saw him lay into both his former side and former rivals, saying at Old Trafford on Sunday: "I’m disgusted with Manchester United and Liverpool the most.
"Liverpool say they’re the people’s club, ‘You’ll Never Walk Alone’, the fan’s club."
"It’s pure greed, they’re imposters, the owners of this club, the owners of Liverpool, the owners of Manchester City, the owners of Chelsea, they have nothing to do with football in this country."
And Klopp appeared to allude to the comments ahead of the Reds' Premier League clash against Leeds.
Speaking before the Elland Road fixture, the manager said: “We have to stick together, and when other people from other clubs use our anthem against us, I don’t like that as well.
“We can show that nobody has to walk alone in these moments.
"There are things we have to sort, obviously, but it has nothing to do with the football and nothing to do with the relationship between the supporters and the team.
“For me, that’s really important because you have to show in tough times, you really stick together. That doesn’t mean you have to agree to everything, but, again, the boys didn’t do anything wrong apart from not winning all football games. I just want to make sure everyone understands that.”
And Neville put his club allegiances aside to make an apology to the Liverpool boss in response to the pre-match interview.
He said on Sky Sports: “When I was initially reacting last night, I mentioned ‘You’ll Never Walk Alone’. It wasn’t in a disrespectful way to Liverpool and maybe in the past I’ve done that, but not last night.

“My intentions last night were around the fact that the two most successful football clubs in this country should have high standards of integrity.
“And for all of the rivalry, there is a respect. A respect that you do the right things, a respect that you defend your club. But both clubs have done great things and the shock that these two are at the front of this.
“There was no sort of point scoring for me last night when I mentioned Liverpool and if I came across that way to Jurgen Klopp I apologise.
“He’s done the most incredible job. If I take allegiances away, I’ve absolutely loved watching his football team over the last four years – more than the City one. They’re electric, they’re everything I want in a football team.
“He’s everything I want in a manager, he’s decent, his players are decent, I know some of them. The fans behind the goal are connected to those players and to that manager.
“What’s happened, is they’ve been basically divided.”
