Net worth of England’s Golden Generation – from David Beckham to Wayne Rooney
England once boasted, on paper, one of the most exciting international teams of their era.
David Beckham, Gary Neville, Paul Scholes, and Michael Owen all combined as football fans tipped England to claim their second World Cup triumph.
However, the golden generation fell under the weight of expectations on the international stage, and the team that promised so much ultimately delivered nothing.
But with a constellation of stars in its ranks, it's no surprise that some of the players are worth millions.
And Daily Star Sport takes a look at the net worth of ten of England's stars from the golden generation.

Golden Balls was the jewel in England's proverbial crown, and the midfielder cemented his status as an England legend with a superb free-kick against Greece.
However, with a glittering playing career, and a number of endorsements off the pitch, Beckham is worth an eye-watering £327million.
Becks now owns the MLS Franchise Inter Miami as he settles into retired life.

Wayne Rooney was a late addition to the golden generation, and the then-Everton striker linked up with the team before Euro 2004.
Rooney, who hung up his boots before taking a management role at Derby County, is worth a staggering £124million after being one of the world's highest-paid players in his heyday.
The 35-year-old pockets £90,000 per week at Derby, but he deferred some of that salary to ensure his players were paid.
Steven Gerrard – £75million
Steven Gerrard, alongside Rooney and Frank Lampard, carried on turning out for England into the 2010s.
The former midfielder is still in the game as the manager of Rangers, and alongside his money earned playing Gerrard is valued at around £75million.
Gerrard is still on the touchline for the Glasgow side.
Rio Ferdinand – £75million
Rio Ferdinand excelled at the heart of the defence for England and the Red Devils over the course of his career.
And he amassed a net worth of £75million during his career, and since his retirement.
Ferdinand is now regularly seen as a pundit on BT Sport, but he has also be involved in music and film.
Gary Neville – £70million
Gary Neville was a regular at right-back for England and Manchester United during the 90s and early 00s.
Neville is valued at around £70million thanks to his football contracts, endorsement deals, investments.
Neville dipped his toes in management, but he is now regularly found on Sky Sports as a pundit or a commentator, as well as having roles at a reported 66 different companies.
Frank Lampard – £65million
One of the golden generations biggest challenges was figuring out to play Lampard and Gerrard alongside one another.
Lampard is currently out of work after being sacked by Chelsea at the turn of the year, to be replaced by Thomas Tuchel.
As well as his career on the pitch and on the touchline, Lampard occasionally appears as a pundit for select fixtures.
Michael Owen – £49million
In 2001, Michael Owen became the fourth Englishman to big up the illustrious Ballon d'Or award.
However, despite being one of the most talented players of his generation, Owen's net worth is estimated to be around £49million.
Owen is currently the owner of the Manor House Stables, a 160-acre thoroughbred horse-racing training establishment, and he heads up the ‘Michael Owen management company’ as well as appearing as a pundit.
John Terry – £51million
John Terry was one of the best defenders of his generation and between 2005 and 2009 he was named as part of the FIFPro World XI.
Terry's net worth is valued at around £51million thanks to his playing career and subsequent stint in management.
Terry's net worth has been reported to be 'five times bigger' than that of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle.
Ashley Cole – £42million
Ashley Cole was a regular on the left-hand side for England Chelsea during the 00s.
Cole has earned the majority of his money through football, but a series of savvy house sales have also contributed to his worth.
The former international hung up his boots in 2019, and he now occasionally appears a pundit.
Paul Scholes – £20million
Paul Scholes was arguably one of the most gifted players in the golden generation as he ran the show from the centre of the park.
However, Scholes' net worth, as of 2018, is valued at £20million.
Scholes tried his hand in management with Oldham Athletic, and he is a regular as a pundit at BT Sport. Scholes also part-owns Salford United with other United alumni.
