Napoli star Mertens and stunning TV host wife ‘like having sex in train toilets’
As one of Napoli’s star performers, Dries Mertens is accustomed to being recognised in public. But the Belgian star and his TV host wife prefer to keep a low profile when they head to their favoured sex location — the toilet of a moving train.
Mertens, who celebrates his 35th birthday today, has been married to his childhood sweetheart, Katrin Kerkhofs, since June 2015. The pair have gained a reputation as one of Belgium’s hottest couples, such is their passion for fashion and glamorous lifestyle in Italy.
But it is their sex life which has made the headlines in recent years. Kerkhofs, 33, made the stunning revelation about her preference for public sex with Mertens while speaking on Belgian television channel Vier.
The blonde bombshell freely admitted that she and her footballer husband have a tendency to get raunchy in public after describing herself as “eccentric” in the bedroom. And when elaborating on her favourite place to get intimate, Kerkhofs let it slip that she and Mertens often choose the setting of a train bathroom for their steamy encounters.
"In public I behave like a lady, but in bed I am eccentric,” she told Gert Late Night. "I think that when you are sure of yourself on a sexual level, things are going better on a general level. I like to do it in places a little unusual, like the basin of a train. I like it a lot.”
Kerkhofs, who underwent surgery in 2017 to reduce the size of her breasts as they were “too big”, has worked as a presenter in her career and even reported at the 2014 World Cup in Brazil for Belgian TV while her husband played for the Red Devils.

Whatever the pair do to keep their relationship and sex life nice and spicy seems to be working, as the duo have been together for 17 years. Mertens constantly posts about his love on his Instagram, often from luxury villas while on holiday with Kerkhofs. More recently, Mertens and Kerkhofs have had to hit the brakes on their wild adventures after welcoming their first child, a baby boy named Ciro Romeo, in March.
While his year away from the pitch has been successful, time is running out for Mertens to clinch his first-ever Serie A title. Napoli had been firmly in the race for the Scudetto before a run of poor results cost them dearly, most notably a shock 3-2 defeat against Empoli.
Their title dreams are all but over with a seven-point gap to leaders AC Milan and only three games left to play, but Mertens won’t be too displeased as he enjoys his first birthday with his newborn son and gorgeous wife.
