Mo Salah tipped to make decision on future amid Barcelona and Real Madrid links

Liverpool legend Ian Rush is confident that Mohamed Salah will stay at the club beyond the end of the campaign.

Despite the Reds' dreadful performances of late Salah has been as prolific as ever so far this season, and is the top scorer in the Premier League with 17 goals to his name.

There have been some suggestions that he is growing unhappy at Anfield, however, and is keen for a change of scene.

Real Madrid and Barcelona are the two clubs that have been most strongly linked with a move for the 28-year-old Egyptian.

But speaking to HorseRacing.net, Rush stated his belief that Salah will remain on Merseyside for at least another season or two.

“I think Liverpool has a broad appeal,” Rush said.

“Teams like Barcelona and Real Madrid have the history, same as Liverpool and Manchester United, and for him to be linked to any of those clubs means that he is one hell of a player but for me I think Mo Salah will stay at Liverpool.

“The fans love him, he loves the fans. The Premier League is the hardest and the most demanding league in the world.

“When you look at Barcelona and Real Madrid, Juventus and Milan in Serie A, where else do you get a league where the bottom team beats the top, like Sheffield United beating Manchester United? That could only happen in the English Premier League.”

Salah himself has been coy about his future, and failed to rule out a move to Spain when asked about the prospect of it in December.

"I think Madrid and Barcelona are two top clubs," he told AS. "Who knows what will happen in the future, but right now I am focused on winning the Premier League and the Champions League with Liverpool again."

Salah's current contract does not expire until 2023, meaning Liverpool are not in desperate need to sell him anytime soon.
