Millionaire Arsenal aces milk title race by charging thousands for Cameo videos

Several Arsenal players are changing up to £12,300 for a personalised video message on internet platform Cameo.

Amid their current Premier League title charge, the Gunners’ stock is at its highest for almost 20 years. Mikel Arteta’s side continued their march towards a first league title since 2004 with a dominant 4-1 victory over Crystal Palace.

However, it appears those Arsenal players are extracting as much as they can out of their current good form. So much so, many members of their squad, including summer signing Gabriel Jesus and midfield anchors Granit Xhaka and Thomas Partey are all charging through the nose for a video message.

According to the Daily Mirror, Jesus, who is understood to be earning an eye-watering £265,000 per week, gets £287 a video and a mighty £8,200 for a recorded business message.

Xhaka is also reportedly charging around £98 and £8,200 for the same packages, while his midfield partner Partey offers £246 per video clip and £4,100 for a business video.

If fans are unable to get Xhaka or Partey, January signing Jorginho, as he does so on the pitch, is able to fill in. The former Chelsea midfielder reportedly commands £205 for a video greeting and a whopping £12,300 for a corporate message.

These activities have been condemned by a soccer insider who evidently feels this side hustle flies in the face of player and fan engagement. “There was a time fans would write to clubs and get a personalised message free,” they said.

“That feels like a more innocent time. To be fair, Partey is giving fans heartfelt congratulations and in some cases even advice.”

One of his videos has seen Partey tell an aspiring football to “be ready to wake every day, not to give anything for free, learn from your coaches, teachers, parents and also to respect.”

The Ghanaian also has eight reviews on his Cameo account, including a recent comment which said the former Atletico Madrid ace was “very heartfelt… genuinely seems like he cares.” When pushed for a comment on the cameo deals a spokesperson from the club stated the videos are nothing to do with Arsenal, but are private agreements between players and Cameo.

Arsenal go into the international break eight points clear of Manchester City, who do have a game in hand. The two Premier League heavyweights lock horns on April 26, in a potential title deciding clash at the Etihad Stadium.
