Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta expects the Kroenke family to play a key role in the club’s rebuild this summer, in what will come as a blow to Daniel Ek’s hopes of completing a takeover. Spotify owner Ek remains committed to completing the takeover that he pledged in the aftermath of vast supporter protest over the Kroenkes’ ownership.
That anger was compounded involvement in the botched European Super League plans, but perceived historical mismanagement of the club is also a driving factor.
Arsenal fans have twice held protests demanding that the relinquish their control.
However, Arteta has suggested that the club’s owners will play an important role in the immediate future. That will come as a blow to Ek.

The Spaniard feels that the club’s resources will help an overhaul of his squad.
“I think the owners are going to be really involved. I think they will be really supportive,” Arteta said when asked if he would be provided funds to complete an overhaul of his squad.
“Our responsibility and aim is to finish as high as possible. It will always help and create more belief, but the outlook is bigger than that.

“What I mean is that we are in the middle of (a process). We are not at the start or at the end, it is a process that we are in.
“It started a few months ago when we had changes of structure at the club, these changes were unprecedented and had not happened in the club’s long history.
“It’s something we had to do, it’s happened already and it has to continue. It’s a difficult task because it does not provide the stability that is necessary.
“We have an incredible opportunity, I am so excited because I know what we can do with the size and resources we are going to have and the quality of people we have at the club.”
This has been a disappointing season on the pitch for Arsenal.
The north Londoners are a lowly ninth in the Premier League and look set to miss out on European qualification for the first time in a quarter of a century. They were beaten by Unai Emery’s Villarreal in Europa League semi-final.
Arteta believes the club have made big improvements, but that has not been reflected by their top-flight performance.
“We haven’t done what we want in the Premier League in terms of results. What we have done in terms of performances compared to last year, the way the team is, the identity of the team, (the difference) is night and day. But results wise it has not been (what we wanted) over 38 games,” the 39-year-old continued.
“We have managed to things we haven’t for five years, winning against the top teams. But we are not where we want to be.
“In Europe we were very close, an inch, a post, dictates failure or success. That’s what we have done.”
