Jon Moss will take charge of Leicester City’s tie with Southampton as his final game

Moss recently came under fire for his performance during Aston Villa’s Premier League clash with Liverpool. Steven Gerrard made his thoughts clear after the game by wishing Moss a speedy retirement.

A reporter at Gerrard’s post-match press conference revealed to Gerrard that Moss was retiring at the end of the season. ‘Is he?’ Gerrard replied, before offering a smirk and saying simply: ‘Good.’

Gerrard’s comments moments after Villa’s impressive performance against the title chasers. The former Liverpool captain’s side took the lead after just three minutes through Douglas Luiz.

However, Joel Matip equalised for the visitors moments later, before Sadio Mane scored the winner in the second half.  Therefore, it’s reasonable to suggest Gerrard took his frustration over the result out on Moss.

Nevertheless, all three referees will look to end their careers on a high this weekend when they official their final Premier League fixtures.

Meanwhile, World Cup-selected referees Michael Oliver and Anthony Taylor will be in charge for Manchester City’s game against Aston Villa and Liverpool’s clash with Wolves.

Oliver’s game is of particular importance as should Manchester City win, they will be crowned champions of the Premier League. But should the lose, the doors open for Liverpool to complete a late steal.

However, Liverpool would have to beat Wolves to be in with a change of getting their hands on the trophy this season.
