Mesut Ozil Fenerbahce shirt number explained as star to officially leave Arsenal tomorrow
Arsenal: Ozil makes farewell trip to the Emirates before move
Mesut Ozil will complete his move to Fenerbahce on Monday and wear the No 67 shirt, according to reports. Arsenal agreed to terminate Ozil’s contract in the last few days, allowing him to follow through with a free transfer to the Turkish side.
Ozil is set to bring to an end a seven-and-a-half-year stay at Arsenal.
The German will join the club he supported as a boy in Fenerbahce.
The midfielder has not played a minute of competitive football for 10 months after being frozen out by Gunners boss Mikel Arteta.
But that looks set to change in the coming weeks.
Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano says Ozil will sign his Fenerbahce contract on Monday morning.

Ozil reportedly said goodbye to his Arsenal team-mates on Sunday at the club’s London Colney training ground.
He will fly to Turkey on Sunday evening ahead of completing the transfer.
And he is set to wear the No 67 shirt for his new club.

German football reporter Christian Falk claims the number represents the town where Ozil’s grandparents are from.

On Sunday, quotes from Ozil emerged ahead of the completion of his transfer.

“I see you when I come, Ridvan Hocam. Thank God it was Fenerbahce. I am very happy. As a Fenerbahceli, God has given him the right to wear that jersey. I will wear the Fenerbahce jersey with pride!
