Mason Mount’s coach drops hint about Man Utd transfer after training with star
Andre Onana linked with Man Utd and Chelsea move
Mason Mount’s fitness coach has dropped a major hint on social media that the midfielder expects to be playing for Manchester United next season. The playmaker has made it abundantly clear to the higher powers at Chelsea that he will not sign a new deal with the club if he does not leave in the coming weeks, with his exit edging closer as a result.
Despite the ownership uncertainty at Old Trafford, Erik ten Hag is desperate to shake up his ranks this summer in preparation for a title charge next season. The Red Devils are keen to acquire reinforcements in all departments, with a striker and goalkeeper both highlighted as priorities.
Though Mount appears likely to be United’s first signing of the summer, with the England international’s stance on signing a new contract forcing Chelsea to drop their transfer valuation. It is widely reported that a deal between the two Premier League rivals could be struck for a fee in the region of £60million, and Mount himself appears confident that he will be heading to Manchester.
His fitness coach, James McCarthy, posted a photo of himself alongside Mount on Instagram with the caption: “Hopefully we get to see him winning games for United next season. Thanks for taking the time.”

The image racked up over 500 likes before McCarthy deleted the post and made his account private, though eagle-eyed United fans were quick to revel in the prospect of pinching an academy graduate from one of their rivals.
Mauricio Pochettino was hopeful that he could persuade Mount to stay at Chelsea and commit to his vision by penning a long-term deal, though his messages to the 24-year-old fell on deaf ears and the versatile midfielder opted to agree on personal terms with United instead.

Ten Hag’s side are said to be keen to strike a deal for Mount sooner rather than later and a new bid is imminent, though ex-Aston Villa star Gabriel Agbonlahor has urged United to rethink their stance entirely.
He told Football Insider: “I’d honestly say he’s worth £40m maximum. If Chelsea ask for much more than that, I think Manchester United should put the phone down – because they aren’t being serious at all. Mount has been out of form… his stats aren’t great.
“Chelsea don’t want to give him a new contract, so surely it suits them to sell him? United should pull out if they can’t get something sorted and that leaves Chelsea stuck with a player who is going to be available for free next January. I think Chelsea will have to stop being stubborn later in this transfer window.”
