It was feared the player could be out with ligament damage, however The Athletic have reported that it may be just two weeks on the sidelines for the 23-year-old.

It means he is certain to miss the Champions League last-16 first-leg clash with Lille, as well as the Premier League clash with Crystal Palace this weekend.

However, it remains to be seen whether Mount can return in time to face Liverpool in the Carabao Cup final against Liverpool at Wembley on Sunday February 27.

Chelsea reached the final by beating London rivals Tottenham over two legs, to seal a fifth cup final appearance under Thomas Tuchel. To date, the FA Cup showpiece against Leicester City last year is the only one the German has lost.
