Mason Greenwood’s bail expiry date confirmed following Man Utd player’s arrest

Mason Greenwood's bail will expire on April 30 amid an ongoing police investigation following the Manchester United youngster's arrest a few weeks ago, according to reports.

Greenwood was taken into police custody in late January on suspicion of rape, sexual assault and threats to kill, and was released on bail three days later.

Greater Manchester Police (GMP) have now confirmed to the Daily Mirror that his bail will expire before the end of April.

Greenwood was suspended by United following his arrest.

It emerged last month that he was still being paid his wages in full and the 20-year-old collected over £300,000 from the club since his arrest.

Greenwood was initially arrested on suspicion of rape and assault, but a few days later was further arrested on suspicion of threats to kill and sexually assault.

Following the further arrest, United released a statement saying that the club "reiterates its strong condemnation of violence of any kind."

They added: "As previously communicated, Mason Greenwood will not train with, or play for, the club until further notice."

Greenwood made his debut for the Red Devils in March 2019 when he was 17-years-old, and quickly established himself as an important player in the squad.

He netted 17 goals in his first full season with the club before earning an England call up.

Although he made his international debut against Iceland in September 2020, he was sent home two days later after breaking Covid-19 public health guidelines with team-mate Phil Foden.
