Martinez’s WAG posts selfie in Milan as Man Utd and Arsenal situations change
Inter Milan striker Lautaro Martinez has been linked with a move to the Premier League for several years, and English outfits are now lining up to secure his signature in the summer.
However, whether his girlfriend, Agus Gandolfo, decides to make the move to England remains to be seen. The Argentine model appears to be loving life in Italy, having shared a selfie on her Instagram of her enjoying herself in Milan.
Gandolfo shared the image to her 923,000 followers on Monday afternoon and it has already racked up almost 50k likes. The caption of the photo roughly translates as saying: “Milan, you are more and more beautiful.”
It is widely reported Martinez met Gandolfo through former Inter striker Mauro Icardi. Both being Argentine, the international teammates became good friends and Martinez was then introduced to Gandolfo through Wanda Nara, Icardi’s wife.
And Martinez could be about to meet a whole new set of teammates as Arsenal and Manchester United are weighing up moves for the forward. According to The Times, the Gunners have renewed their interest in the 24-year-old due to the high likelihood that they will secure Champions League football for next season.
On the contrary, United are keen to acquire the services of Martinez so that they can put themselves back in the frame of being able to finish in the top four. They are willing to complete an uncommon player plus cash deal for the Argentina international, with Anthony Martial being used as makeweight for the move.
It is crucial that both of the aforementioned Premier League clubs sign strikers in the summer or will be short of depth come next season. Arsenal are set to be left with the unproven Folarin Balogun as their only striker option over the summer as Alexandre Lacazette and Eddie Nketiah are both due to depart when their contracts expire.
Similarly, United will only have Cristiano Ronaldo as their no.9 option due to Edinson Cavani not renewing his deal to remain at Old Trafford. Marcus Rashford is also capable of playing as a striker, though he is considering whether his future lies with his boyhood club, as can Mason Greenwood, who is unavailable.
Martinez would be a long-term option for either club but also provide versatility across the frontline, being able to play as a lone striker, second striker and on either wing. He has scored 17 goals in 32 appearances for Inter in the Serie A this season and giving them every chance of retaining the league title.
