Martials Man Utd demand backfires as star faces being left out in the cold
Anthony Martial's sensational request to leave Manchester United looks set to backfire – with reports suggesting the club have not yet had any enquiries for the French flop.
Martial's agent, Philippe Lamboley, made it clear last week that Martial wanted to leave the club in January.
The striker has barely featured for United this term after the return of Cristiano Ronaldo.
Martial has started just two Premier League games this season. He's also barely featured in Europe, with the 26-year-old tasting just 67 minutes of action in the Champions League.
But his bombshell demand could be set to backfire due to a lack of demand for his services.
According to ESPN, United are yet to field a serious enquiry from any interested party since Martial and his agent went public last week.
The report goes on to outline that there are doubts at United over which clubs would be able to afford a realistic fee for the striker plus the prospect of matching his bloated salary.
That could leave Martial in limbo – with United believed to be unwilling to sanction a cut-price exit for the striker.

A lack of concrete interest and United's stance could force Martial into staying put against his wishes.
United interim boss Ralf Rangnick has already handed some players who found themselves frozen out under ex-boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer a chance to impress.
But Martial missed out as he's currently sidelined with an injury but doesn't appear to be keen to try and work his way into Rangnick's plans.
Rangnick refused to be drawn on the situation last week; insisting that it was down to Martial to inform the club if he wanted an exit.
“No, because then I would react to what his agent said and it should be the player,” said the interim head coach.
“If he really has the wish to go to another club, it should be the player who informs either the board or myself, whomever.
“I don’t communicate with agents via the media and the press. The player hasn’t spoken with me or with us about it.”
