Marcus Rashford ‘doesn’t feel like slowing down’ after 16 goals in 19 games

Marcus Rashford is fit and ready to fire Manchester United to major silverware having insisted that he won't be slowing down after 16 goals in 19 matches.

The 25-year-old has gone from scoring five goals across the entirety of last season to hitting 24 already this season – including two against Leicester on Sunday (February 19).

Speaking to Sky Sports after Erik ten Hag's men secured a 3-0 victory to go three points behind Manchester City in the table – Rashford made a statement.

He said: "Overall a good day. They created good opportunities and David made a great save at the end of the first half, without that we can't go on to win the game.

"It's still early in the season, we're fighting for a lot of different things and we have another big game in the week to hopefully go through to the next round of the Europa League and then a massive game for us [against Newcastle in the Carabao Cup final].

"I don't feel like slowing down and always want to improve."

He then added when asked about the title race: "We're close but both teams in front of us are good teams and playing good football. We have to just focus on ourselves, do as well as we can and keep picking up points."

United remain in four competitions with their Europa League playoff round second-leg against Barcelona coming up on Thursday.

That game is followed by their Carabao Cup final against Newcastle at Wembley, with West Ham to come in the FA Cup the following Wednesday.

Ten Hag said after the match: "We're happy with the result, it's a great result. When you play every third day you can't always get to your same performance. Today was really tough.

"First half Leicester played brilliant, we were rubbish, the way we were really undisciplined. We had problems and it was only because of David de Gea that we had a clean sheet at half-time.

"Luckily we had half-time, we could repair some things and the second half was brilliant. There was a lot of pleasure, it was enjoyable to watch how we created so many chances and scored great goals."
