Marcus Rashford is ‘arguably the best player in the WORLD’ and is a ‘level above everyone else’ right now, claims former Scotland striker Kris Boyd… as Man United sweat on his fitness ahead of the Carabao Cup final

  • Kris Boyd believes that Marcus Rashford is the best player in the world right now

Marcus Rashford is arguably the best player in the world right now, according to former Scotland striker Kris Boyd.

Rashford is enjoying his most prolific season in front of goal, having already scored 24 times this season – 14 of which coming in the Premier League.

No player has scored more goals since the resumption of domestic football after the World Cup, and his goals have seen Man Utd reach the next round of the Europa League, seeing off Barcelona, and threaten the top two in the Premier League title race.

His scintillating form has seen Sky Sports pundit Boyd state that presently there isn’t a better player in world football than the Man Utd number 10.

‘You could see there were talented footballers at the club that is wasn’t going to happen for them and I think Marcus Rashford was potentially going to fall into that trap.’ Boyd told Soccer Saturday

Marcus Rashford has scored 24 times this season as is in the form of his career for Man Utd

Kris Boyd says that at the moment there isn’t a better player in the world than Marcus Rashford

‘But I tell you what, he’s arguably the best player in the world at this moment in time. He’s been unstoppable.

The goals he’s scored, the assists, the way he’s gone about his business since Ronaldo has left has shown why Erik ten Hag and the rest of the Man Utd squad were desperate to get Cristiano Ronaldo out – because it’s not as if they’ve looked back.

He’s a level above everyone else at this moment in time and they’ll need him to be fit.’

United are sweating on the fitness of their in-form forward ahead of Sunday’s Carabao Cup Final, after Rashford seemed to pick-up an injury in the Red Devils’ 2-1 win over Barcelona on Thursday evening.

Rashford went down in the first half with what appeared to be a knock but continued after treatment and returned for the second half.

He was substituted with two minutes of the game remaining, it what looked like a routine change by Erik ten Hag, but footage showed the Dutchman asking how Rashford felt moments before he left the pitch.

United are hoping their striker will be fit enough to play in Sunday’s Carabao Cup Final

Marcus Rashford has sparked fears he has picked up an injury with a cryptic social media post

The England star then shared an image to Instagram of himself walking down the touchline with a bandage emoji accompanying the post.

United go into Sunday’s final at Wembley against Newcastle haven’t dispatched of Barcelona in the Europa League and sitting third in the Premier League, and Boyd believes there is a lot for the club to look forward to.

Boyd added ‘There’s definitely the feel-good around Manchester United, which is back. You look at the run they’ve been on, it’s been outstanding.

I think even to fall behind to Barcelona and come back, the way they did on Thursday night –  I thought they were outstanding.’
