Marcos Alonso and Emerson expected to leave Chelsea in double Serie A switch

Chelsea are set to let two first-team players leave in a double Serie A transfer as Thomas Tuchel looks to overhaul the squad.

The Blues have enjoyed a resounding comeback under the German, sitting fourth in the Premier League with FA Cup and Champions League finals to come.

While predecessor Frank Lampard spent more than £200m on new talent last summer, the boss still wants to bring his own changes in.

And an insider on signings in Italian football has suggested that it could see two defenders leave Stamford Bridge for the continent.

Alessandro Belluno, president of the Italian Chamber of Commerce in Britain, told TuttoMercato : “It is very likely that Emerson Palmieri or Marcos Alonso of Chelsea will arrive in Italy.

“But it’s very likely that other important players on a free transfer can come to Italy or others on loan.”

Palmieri and Alonso have both been put on the sidelines following the arrival on Ben Chilwell at left-back from Leicester for £50m.

It has seen the Italian, who arrived from Roma in January 2018, make just 15 appearances this season for the Blues.

Six of these have come in the Champions League with only two in the league, his last appearance being 11 minutes in the FA Cup semi-final win over Manchester City last month.

Alonso had been ostracised by Lampard at the beginning of the campaign, only appearing in the first three league games of the season.

But the Spaniard was brought back into the starting XI in Tuchel’s second game, scoring in a 2-0 win over Burnley.

Chelsea are also looking to bring talent into the club as former forward Mohamed Salah has been added to the “shortlist”.

He joined Borussia Dortmund’s Erling Haaland and Inter Milan’s Romelu Lukaku on the list – and Tuchel could get rid of 12 stars to make a £200m for the goal-scorers.
