Mane branded "GOAT" after fans spot him snubbing Senegal president’s handshake
Liverpool star Sadio Mane has left fans in stitches online after snubbing a handshake from Senegal's president in the aftermath of the nation's history-making Africa Cup of Nations triumph.
It was Mane who etched his name into folklore by netting the winning penalty for Senegal in Sunday's final showdown with Egypt.
Mane's penalty secured Senegal's first-ever AFCON title – and the Lions of Teranga have been partying ever since.
And Mane has once again made headlines after his hilarious encounter with Senegal's president during a celebration to mark the historic achievement.
After being greeted by Senegal president Macky Sall, Mane turned just as Sall offered a congratulatory handshake to celebrate with the crowd.
Unsurprisingly, fans were left in hysterics online, with one fan wasting little time in declaring: "LMAO WHAT A GOAT".
Another reacted by tweeting: "He's the people's champion", while another fan posted: "King of his world right now. Love it for Sadio".
Other fans were quick to point out that Mane had mimicked Bobby Firmino's celebration after sidestepping the president, with one tweeting: "No way my man took Bobby’s celebration like that…I love him".
Do you think Mane will win any more silverware with Liverpool this year after his AFCON triumph? Let us know in the comments section below.
And another even quipped that Firmino had put him up to doing it: "Bobby bet him a 5er he wouldn't do it".
It's not the first time that Mane has sent fans wild on social media since Senegal's triumph at the weekend.
The Reds star posted a picture of himself in bed with the coveted trophy which went viral just hours after the win.
His light-hearted moment with the president caps a whirlwind few days for Mane, who also crowned as the player of the tournament.
He came out on top against his Reds' partner in crime Mohamed Salah in Sunday's nail-biting finale, despite missing a penalty in normal time.
And the 29-year-old admitted that making history with Senegal after redeeming himself with the final spot-kick eclipsed his Champions League glory with Liverpool.
