Manchester United think they could sign Jadon Sancho for just £50million at the end of the season, according to reports. The England international has long been a top transfer target for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side. And despite missing out on him in October, the Red Devils could revive their interest.

United spent the whole of the summer window chasing Sancho.

Solskjaer told the club’s hierarchy the England international was a priority transfer target, having been left blown away by his Dortmund form.

The Norwegian believed Sancho would be the perfect player to complement the likes of Mason Greenwood, Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial in attack.

But, in the end, they missed out.

The Red Devils believed Dortmund’s asking price of £108m was too steep, especially given the coronavirus crisis.

And, since then, interest appears to have fizzled out.

However, Eurosport say some United insiders are confident they can sign Sancho for the discounted price of £50m when the transfer window reopens at the end of the campaign.

Dortmund are under pressure to sell, with the global pandemic causing financial troubles behind the scenes.

And they may be forced into parting ways with the 20-year-old for far less than they’d originally intended, while several others could depart.

Reports have suggested United remain keen on Borussia Dortmund striker Erling Haaland, who has scored 14 Bundesliga goals from 15 games this season.

And he’s another who could be sold to free up funds.

Jude Bellingham may also be shown the door, with Chelsea reportedly keen on signing the former Birmingham City midfielder.

And whether United are able to finally land Sancho this summer remains to be seen. If they do, it’ll be fourth time lucky.

They first attempted to sign the forward in 2017, when it became clear he would be leaving Manchester City’s academy behind.

But they missed out on that occasion, with Sancho choosing to prioritise first-team football at Borussia Dortmund instead.

Solskjaer eyed a deal in the summer transfer window of 2019 but, after missing out on a place in the Champions League, a transfer was never going to materialise.

Then came last summer’s saga and Sancho, once again, ended up staying at the Westfalenstadion.

He’s struggled for consistency over in Germany this season, with the United target scoring just three league goals all season.

But, earlier in the campaign, Louis Saha called on United to get a deal done.

“It’s unfortunate Man United couldn’t get deals in place for Jack Grealish and Jadon Sancho last summer because they are two amazing players,” he told Ladbrokes.

“I know less about Grealish but I think he would have fitted perfectly into this team.

“But for me, I’m sorry, Sancho is just such an unbelievable player.

“He’s unpredictable, he’s such a great talent and if he was playing for United with Bruno Fernandes, you just know as a striker you’re going to score goals because of the two of those.

“Man United did miss out on the two of them in the summer, but hopefully they’ll have another chance to sign them soon.

“My choice of the two would be Sancho over Grealish.

“Both are amazing players and they’d improve any side. They’re so confident and would be really useful for Man United’s strikers.

“Fernandes has done a great job in helping United since arriving earlier this year, so could you imagine what another player of his level would do to the team?”
