Check out their best and value bets:

FLEMINGTON

GILBERT GARDINER (Herald Sun) Form: 42213

DICE ROLL (Race 6, No.2 — $2)

Unbeaten in three Australian starts and trainer Nick Ryan has far greater aspirations for the progressive French import. Rises to 1600m but flies on rain-affected ground.

Value bet: MERLE THE PEARL (Race 2, No.7 — $10)

CHRIS VERNUCCIO (Racing News Editor) Form: 19435

THE ASTROLOGIST (Race 8, No.5 — $4)

Returned to Victoria after a luckless Queensland campaign with a strong win down the Flemington straight, which rated the best of the day of the meeting. He can win again here.

Value bet: CISCO BAY (Rosehill, Race 9, No.9 — $4.80)

GLENN McFARLANE (Herald Sun) Form: 71433

DICE ROLL (Race 6, No.2 — $2)

Unbeaten in three runs in Australia and just seems to be getting better with a rise to 1600m looking an added plus.

Value bet: LINDHOUT (Race 9, No.13 — $3.10)

JETT HATTON (Racenet) Form: 52151

DICE ROLL (Race 6, No.2 — $2.00)

Progressive galloper from the Nick Ryan stable that keeps on improving and can add the Winter Championship Final to his resume. Beat a handy one in Rubisaki last time out and while he’s yet to race over the mile in Australia, he finished third in the Group 1 French Guineas at the trip, so that won’t be an issue.

Value bet: BUCKIN’ BEAUTY (Rosehill Race 5, No.5 — $19)

ROSEHILL

RAY THOMAS (Daily Telegraph) Form: 4×221

STEEL DIAMOND (Race 10, No.9 — $5.50)

Steel Diamond made a very good return to beat all but the in-form Gravina at Randwick. She has had three weeks between runs and returns to Rosehill where she has won previously over the 1400m course on a heavy track. She looks to have returned in great order and gets conditions to suit here. Hard to beat.

Value bet: SIXGUN (Race 4, No.7 — $10)

SHAYNE O’CASS (Daily Telegraph) Form: x129

CISCO BAY (Race 6, No.9 — $4.80)

Trial watchers all cashed in Cisco Bay first-up. He was so dominant that day. There is no reason why he can’t win again, it’s not like his second-up form isn’t as good as his first-up form. The only potential negative is that it is harder to make ground at Rosehill than it is at Randwick when it’s wet. That said, it might be completely different on the day – we’ll know by now anyway.

Value bet: SAIGON (Race 10, No.3 — $21)

CLINTON PAYNE (Racenet) Form: 8x3x2

RUBY TUESDAY (Race 6, No.11 — $10)

Ticks plenty of boxes on Saturday for a horse at double-figure odds. Hard fit, races on speed, drops significantly in weight, recent efforts better than they read, handles heavy and top senior jockey replaces the apprentice from a good draw.

Value bet: EPIC DAN (Race 8, No.8 — $21)

SUNSHINE COAST

TRENTON AKERS (Courier Mail) Form: 78143

STOCKMAN (Race 7, No.4 — $2.10)

A noted swimmer who will lap up the rain-soaked Sunshine Coast track on Saturday. Joe Pride has sent the improving stayer north following his dominant win in Sydney and that form should stack up well here in Queensland.

Value bet: HAMLET VON SNITZEL (Race 3, No.13 — $18)

NATHAN EXELBY (Sky Racing) Form: 31191

EAST ASIA (Race 2, No.11 — $3.20)

Also an acceptor for the Glasshouse, but hopefully she races here. She’s raced well the whole way through for Rob Heathcote and notched a deserved win last time after overcoming plenty of traffic problems in the straight. 1400m looks a real sweet spot for her and in this class, with her ability to handle wet ground, she can win again.

Value bet: NOT AN OPTION (Race 6, No.4 — $16)
