Manchester United ‘make a £51m bid for Ajax star Antony, but their proposal falls almost £20m short of the Dutch giants valuation of the Brazilian forward’… as his agents push for a deal to be accepted

Manchester United have reportedly made an offer £51million bid for Antony, however it falls almost £20m short of Ajax’s valuation.

The Brazilian forward is one of Erik ten Hag’s main transfer targets this summer after flourishing under the new United boss at the Dutch giants last season.

The 22-year-old helped Ajax win the Eredivisie title for a second successive season, as he notched 12 goals and played an influential role, which has also seen him break his way into the Brazil squad.

The Red Devils are said to have made an initial bid of £51m, but Ajax are not keen to sell Antony and have told United they will have to stump up a bid of £68m for him, according to Goal.

The same reports suggests that Antony’s agents are pushing for the Amsterdam-based side to sell the forward for a lower prize to get a deal done with United.

His contract at Ajax runs until 2025 and new coach Alfred Schreuder hopes that the Brazil international will remain – meaning negotiations could prove to be difficult.

The former Sao Paulo attacker joined the Dutch team in 2020 and has made 78 appearances in all competitions, scoring 22 goals and making 19 assists.

Antony is not the only target for ten Hag from Ajax, as they’re also chasing defender Lisandro Martinez.

Arsenal are also interested in Martinez, who is valued at £43million, but United are currently more likely to sign him.

United have been heavily linked with a number of new signing including Barcelona midfielder Frenkie de Jong, who also worked under ten Hag at Ajax previously.

Despite plenty of talk, the Red Devils have only secured one signature so far, in the form of Feyenoord defender Tyrell Malacia.
