Manchester City set for a bumper £300M windfall if they clinch treble

Man City set for a bumper £300MILLION windfall if they secure historic Treble this season… as Pep Guardiola’s players inch closer to the Champions League final after a resolute showing against Real Madrid

  • As the season draws to a close Guardiola’s side inch closer to a historic payday
  • The bulk of their prize money will come from victory in the Premier League
  • With four matches left to play, City top the table ahead of second-place Arsenal

Manchester City will receive close to £300million in prize money should they clinch their historic Treble, according to reports.

City’s pursuit of the rare achievement is gathering pace as the season draws to a close and they have hit their stride at an ideal time.

Pep Guardiola’s side sit at the top of the Premier League table, a point clear of Arsenal with four matches to play. They also have a game in hand over the Gunners.

Their aspirations in the Champions League received a boost following a 1-1 draw with Real Madrid in the first leg of their semi-final and they have home advantage in the return next week.

City are also favourites to lift the FA Cup as they will face their crosstown rivals Man United in the final.

According to The Sun, City will receive a bumper windfall if they emulate the Treble achieved by United in 1999.

Their fifth Premier League title in six years would net the club approximately £164m, as it did last season, and victory at Wembley would grant them a further £3.9m.

City’s first-ever Champions League win would be equally lucrative, with this year’s winner set to take home around £117.2m – including winnings from across the competition.

This would take their total prize money this season to a mammoth £285.1m.

But a successful Champions League run could lead to even greater riches with victory in Istanbul on June 10 granting City a spot in FIFA’s revamped 2025 Club World Cup.

The prize money up for grabs for the winners of the tournament is set to be close to £50m.

The lion’s share of City’s Champions League prize was earned during their group stage performances, which handed them £69.6m, with a further £20.37m made during the round-of-16 and quarter-final clashes.

Victory in the semi-finals and final would see the side bank £9.6m and £17.63m, respectively.

City have been in superb form in the Premier League as the season draws to a close

The team’s first order of business – ahead of June’s cup finals – will be conquering the league, where they need just nine points from their final four Premier League matches to claim a third straight title.

Opponents Everton, Chelsea, Brentford, and Brighton will no doubt be wary of City’s red-hot league form, which has seen them win all of their last 10 matches.

The title-holders have not lost in the top-flight since February 5 when they were defeated away at Tottenham.

City travel to Everton and Arsenal host Brighton in the next round of matches on Sunday.
