  • Gabriel Jesus and Raheem Sterling could be high-profile departures this summer
  • Kalvin Phillips is reportedly being chased to replace Fernandinho in midfield

Manchester City could make up to £200m through player sales this summer, it has been reported.

The champions are said to be chasing Leeds United’s Kalvin Phillips to bolster their midfield.

According to a report in The Telegraph, player sales amounting to around £200m could aid their pursuit of the player who would be expected to come in to replace Fernandinho, who departed the club this summer after nine years.

Gabriel Jesus is the likeliest first team player to leave, with his place in the pecking order believed to have taken a significant blow through the acquisitions of Erling Haaland and Julian Alvarez.

Reports suggest that Arsenal lead the chase for the Brazilian forward, with Tottenham Hotspur and Chelsea also believed to be monitoring his situation.

It is believed that Jesus would cost any potential club around £45m, with his value being reduced by his contract expiring next summer.

Meanwhile, Jesus’ team-mate Raheem Sterling is another potential departure from the Etihad this summer.

Sterling enjoyed a mixed season, at times struggling to break into Pep Guardiola’s starting XI and as such could seek an opportunity elsewhere. It has been reported that Real Madrid or Barcelona could offer the Englishman a way out of the club, while Chelsea, backed by their new owners, could also pursue the player.

Sterling, like Jesus, only has 12 months left to run on his deal but Manchester City would still expect a significant sum for the player. It has been suggested that it would take around £60m to prise the player away from the Premier League champions.

While money has been made elsewhere through the sale of Ferran Torres to Barcelona in January with his fee potentially rising to £55m.

Elsewhere, lesser known players such as Venezuela midfielder Yangel Herrera and Morgan Rogers, an England u20 player could together fetch around £20m.

Both players spent last season on loan away from the club, at Espanyol and Bournemouth, respectively.

Southampton, meanwhile, are reportedly looking to sign Manchester City’s highly rated young goalkeeper Gavin Bazunu who will cost Ralph Hassenhuttl’s side around £15m, it has been claimed.

In addition to those names, Pedro Porro, the Spain right back, has joined Sporting Lisbon for around £7m.

Should those players all depart, Manchester City would bring in around £207m. While it has also been suggested that one of Oleksandr Zinchenko, Nathan Ake and Ilkay Gundogan could depart the club, with none of those three players likely to leave for for a lowly fee.
