Former Arsenal striker Kevin Campbell believes Paris Saint-Germain manager Mauricio Pochettino is “tailor made” for the Manchester United job. Pochettino has frequently been linked with the Red Devils’ job since Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was sacked by the club towards the end of November.
Current interim manager Ralf Rangnick is only expected to keep the Old Trafford seat warm until the end of the season when a permanent manager is expected to be appointed.
Former Tottenham Hotspur and Southampton manager Pochettino is widely regarded as the top choice to take over the reigns from the German when his temporary stint ends.
The PSG boss is currently on course to win his first league title having amassed a 13-point lead at the top of the Ligue 1, whilst handling world-class stars such as Neymar, Lionel Messi and Kylian Mbappe.
And Campbell believes the Argentinian has shown in his career that he has what it takes to succeed at United, particularly focusing on his record in developing youngsters.
“I think it’s been geared towards Pochettino this whole time,” Campbell told Football Insider.

“Just the way he can get the whole club together and really galvanise the whole place, it’d do Man United the world of good.
“He’s really shown he can bring the kids through as well.
“There might well be better managers out there, but there’s none better than Pochettino in terms of bringing through the kids and getting the best out of them. I think he’s tailor-made for United.”
Former United captain Gary Neville also echoed similar sentiments to Campbell after watching United struggle to a 1-1 draw against Newcastle United.

“I’d like Pochettino to be the next manager because he’s got experience of the league, I think he would play the right type of football,” Neville said to Sky Sports.
“It feels like the moment for him to step up. He’s managing big stars, characters and personalities.
“I’ve always liked him and the way in which he has operated. I think he fits the club, he works with young players as well.
“He gets the best out of players. He’s a good coach. But also I think he works people the right way.
“But he’s got a job at Paris Saint-Germain, and if he does well there, they obviously won’t let him go.”
While he did not manage to win a major trophy during his five seasons at Tottenham, Pochettino is still highly respected and revered in the Premier League.
He led the north London side to their maiden Champions League final in 2019 and did so with some memorable victories against Manchester City and Ajax en route to the final in Madrid.
Pochettino also ensured Champions League qualification and Premier League became a regular feature at Spurs during the club’s transition into the Tottenham Hotspur stadium, where his transfer budget was miniscule compared to his rivals.
While his first season at PSG ended with the club losing the French title to Lille on the final day, the club are sitting comfortably at the top of Ligue 1 and also qualfiied for the knockout-stages of the Champions League.
Pochettino is currently under contract until 2023, although it is expected that United would have to pay a hefty compensation fee to convince PSG to allow him to leave before then.
