Man Utd’s new star Antony turned down a move to Pep Guardiola’s Man City in 2019

Antony rejected the chance to join Pep Guardiola's Manchester City years before linking up with Erik ten Hag at Old Trafford in an agreement worth £82million and a potential £4.3m of add-ons.

Manchester United's newest attacking star has joined the club on a contract until the summer of 2027 three years after City bid £17m for his services during his time at Sao Paulo.

Now 22, the Brazil international will make his Premier League bow having not felt ready to move to England at the time of the previous bid for his services.

"I'm thankful to everyone who has believed in me, especially my family, and all my coaches and team-mates, because I could not have got here without them.
