Manchester United are reportedly willing to send Diogo Dalot back to AC Milan – but want a significant loan fee.

Dalot spent last season on loan at the San Siro after failing to impress United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

Milan appear keen to keep the 22-year-old right-back, but so far the two sides have not been able to agree a deal.

However, according to latest reports, they could be close to a solution.

The Premier League giants are willing to let Dalot rejoin the Rossoneri on loan with an option to buy, for a fee of €5-6m (£4.2-£5.1m), claims Sky Sports via Sport Witness.

Dalot made 33 appearances for Milan last season, and while he wasn't a regular starter, boss Stefano Pioli and technical director Paolo Maldini want him to provide competition for Davide Calabria.

The fact he can play on both sides of the pitch is believed to be attractive to the Milan chiefs – but if they cannot agree a deal it is claimed they will target Real Madrid’s Álvaro Odriozola.

Earlier this month, reports from Dalot's native Portugal claimed the defender had emerged as a target for Madrid after Carlo Ancelotti took charge at the Bernabeu.

Correio da Manhã reported that Ancelotti was still keen on taking the right-back, having wanted him at Everton 12 a year ago.

With Seamus Coleman injured for the majority of the season, Ancelotti was forced to play Ben Godfrey out of position at times – which could have been avoided had Everton signed Dalot.

Dalot joined United from Porto for £19.8m in the summer of 2018.

But after making 23 appearances in his first season he fell out of favour following the signing of Aaron Wan-Bissaka.

Dalot made two appearances for Portugal at Euro 2020, earning his first start for his country in their 1-0 defeat to Belgium in the round of 16.
