Man Utd vs Newcastle tickets being sold for £2,500 ahead of Ronaldo return

Tickets for Manchester United vs Newcastle – the clash that is expected to herald the return of Cristiano Ronaldo – are selling for as much as £2,500.

Ronaldo put to pen to paper for United on Tuesday, confirming a return to the Red Devils after initially leaving the side in 2009.

And United fans are desperate to catch a glimpse of their returning hero against the Magpies on 11 September.

The game is scheduled for a 3pm kick-off, meaning it falls under the UK's 'blackout' and won't be broadcast live on Sky Sports or BT Sports.

And tickets for the clash have all sold out on United's official website.

However, ticket resale websites still have some tickets on sale for the clash.

Live Football Tickets have some listed for £230, but they are trumped by Ticketpad, who are listing tickets for £500.

The Times are reporting that the American website StubHub are listing tickets in the lower tiers of the ground for £2,514.

But, Manchester United have urged fans not to use these websites when it comes to purchasing tickets.

A spokesman from Manchester United told The Times: "We strongly discourage fans from purchasing tickets from unauthorised sources."

"These tickets are often invalid, leaving fans out of pocket, disappointed and unable to see the game."

Ronaldo was United's final signing of an excellent summer.

Alongside their returning hero, the Red Devils also secured the services of Jadon Sancho, from Borussia Dortmund, and Raphael Varane, from Real Madrid.
