Man Utd to travel more than 5,000 miles to face Ryan Reynolds’ Wrexham

Manchester United will travel more than 5,000 miles this summer – to face non-league Wrexham.

The English giants will take on the National League minnows in San Diego as part of their summer tour of the United States.

The game will take place on July 25 in the Snapdragon Stadium – with Hollywood superstar and Wrexham co-owner Ryan Reynolds expected to be in attendance, as well as fellow actor and co-owner Rob McElhenney.

Manchester United football director John Murtough said: "This will be the first time the team has visited San Diego, and we are looking forward to playing in front of our passionate US fans at Snapdragon Stadium.

"Pre-season tours are always a great occasion to give opportunities for our most promising young Academy players to gain valuable experience in the first team environment, and this match against Wrexham AFC is a great example of that."

United have taken on Wrexham five times in their history, winning all five across FA Cup, League Cup and Cup Winners Cup competitions.

United's pre-season tour will also see them stage games in New York and Las Vegas, although the opposition has still to be confirmed.
