Man Utd to rival Arsenal for £17m bargain as Chelsea deal ‘blocked’

The January transfer window is just around the corner, with many of the Premier League’s biggest clubs expected to be active in the winter market. The likes of Manchester United, Chelsea and Arsenal will be looking to improve their squads when the bidding opens to fine-tune their preparations for the business end of the campaign.

United are said to be weighing up a move for another striker to ease the pressure on Rasmus Hojlund at the top of the pitch. The Red Devils have been linked with several exciting targets, with RB Leipzig marksman Lois Openda and Santos ace Marcos Leonardo thought to be among the names on their shortlist.

Chelsea will also be hoping to use the January window to their advantage after Mauricio Pochettino underlined his desire for more signings earlier this month. Arsenal, meanwhile, have been tipped to splash the cash in order to strengthen their Premier League title ambitions.

Chelsea loan move blocked

Chelsea could be prevented from sending Ian Maatsen out on loan to Borussia Dortmund next month, according to The Mirror.

Per FIFA rules, only seven players can be loaned overseas and Chelsea have already filled their quota for this season.

It means that any move for Maatsen is likely to be a permanent one, unless the Blues decide to loan him to another Premier League club.

Man Utd rival Arsenal for £17m deal

Manchester United and Arsenal could go head-to-head for the signature of Santos forward Marcos Leonardo in January.

That’s according to R7, who are reporting that Leonardo has emerged as a target for several Premier League clubs.

Arsenal are said to be preparing a bid in the region of £17m, while United have been ‘monitoring’ his development for quite some time.
