Atletico Madrid are reportedly set to ask Manchester United if they are interested in taking any of their players in exchange for Anthony Martial. The Frenchman, who was signed by Louis van Gaal way back in 2015, wants out of Old Trafford due to a lack of game time.
Martial was the first player to sign a new contract under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer but the Norwegian’s loyalty to the forward died a death this season following the arrival of Cristiano Ronaldo and Jadon Sancho.
Now his agent Philippe Lamboley has confirmed his client wants to pursue a new challenge – potentially as soon as January.
He told Sky Sports News: “Anthony wishes to leave the club in January.
“He just needs to play. He doesn’t want to stay in January and I will speak to the club soon.”
According to Eurosport, Atletico Madrid are one of the teams interested in taking Martial off United’s hands.
It’s claimed Diego Simeone’s men would be prepared to explore a swap deal and send one of their players the other way.
Atletico are poised to ask United if there are any players of interest to them in order to sign Martial.
Simeone’s squad is already stacked with attacking options but Atletico need to turn some of their draws into wins.

They’ve shared the points five times in La Liga this season but are still fourth in the table – that’s despite losing just three times in 16 outings.
It’s currently unclear whether United are willing to sell Martial mid-season but he currently remains way down the pecking order.
Furthermore, there is the added spice of Monday’s Champions League draw, where United were paired with Atletico.
United were initially drawn against Paris Saint-Germain but they will now face the Spanish outfit following the redraw.

The two-legged tie begs the question of whether United would be prepared to do business with their Champions League rivals in January.
Interim boss Ralf Rangnick has made it clear to Martial that he must communicate if he wants to leave the club, not via his agent.
“I don’t communicate with agents via the media and press,” Rangnick said ahead of the cancelled clash with Brentford. “The player hasn’t spoken with me or us about it.
“After the final training session before the Crystal Palace game, after having trained with team, he informed the doctor and the medical department that he would not be available because the pain in his knee is too big. We have to wait and see.
“Maybe he can train again [on Sunday] but I have to speak to the doctor first. To be honest, what his agent says via the media is not of that much interest to me.”
