Man Utd to address Edinson Cavani’s future at the club

Manchester United will sit down and hold talks with Edinson Cavani over his future at the club.

The former Napoli and Paris Saint-Germain striker joined the club on a one-year deal with the option for a further 12 months.

Cavani was slowly integrated to the fold by United as he worked on his match fitness and sharpness.

But it didn't take him long to get up and running, scoring his first against Everton before leading United's comeback against Southampton two weeks later.

Cavani came on at half-time, with United trailing 2-0, to score twice and set up another in a thrilling turnaround.

Now, the striker has seven goals and two assists to his name while managing to nail down a regular starting spot at United.

His contract has yet to be extended but Solskjaer gave a promising update ahead of the weekend's clash against Newcastle.

“I can only say Edinson has done well," said the United boss.

"I’ve been impressed by him, he’s really gelled in the group and we’ll sit down and speak with him in the near future to see his plans and our plans.

"It’s a good discussion to have.

"We always speak to the players and, with his contract situation at the moment, we’re very pleased with what he’s done."
