Manchester United news, exclusives and analysis
Hannibal is one of United’s most well-known young prospects having caught the eye of fans and pundits alike with his passionate performances during the disastrous 2021/22 season.
But with only a handful of senior appearances to his name, Erik ten Hag sent the 20-year-old out on loan to Birmingham City in the Championship where he featured 41 times making 23 starts.
The central midfielder scored once and made six assists to help the struggling side remain in the second-tier with a 17th place finish, with his free-kick against West Brom winning the club’s Goal of the Season award.
Though form and game time declined as the season went it was a huge learning curve for youngster, who also featured for Tunisia during the Qatar World Cup.
Asked by BirminghamLive how he found the Championship Hannibal jokingly replied: ‘Easy,’ before adding: ‘It was really hard.
‘The Championship is really hard. We play week in, week out. At home you have to sleep every day and eat good otherwise you get injured.
Outrageous, Hannibal! ð®âð¨

‘It was a really good experience. I think I learned a lot and the fans were unbelievable with me. I have to give them everything on the pitch and that is what I tried to do.’
It is not known what Ten Hag plans to do with Hannibal once he returns to his parent club in the summer but the player seems relaxed with his situation, with his United contract running until 2026.
United are on the hunt for a new central midfielder which could put his aspirations of joining the first-team in doubt, but when asked about another loan at Birmingham for next season, he seemed open to the idea.
He added: ‘First, the Championship is very hard, so I’m going to have a good holiday. After that I will think about next season and get ready for my pre-season with Man United.
‘We will see at the end of the pre-season. Why not? You never know.’
