Man Utd star Luke Shaw lifts lid on Alex Telles threat after dominating Mohamed Salah

Man Utd: Will Solskjaer be happy with Anfield point?

Manchester United ace Luke Shaw has admitted to being spurred on by the arrival of Alex Telles at Old Trafford. The left-back was Man of the Match against Liverpool yesterday in the 0-0 draw, keeping Mohamed Salah quiet throughout at Anfield.

Shaw has been in good form since his return from a hamstring injury and has cemented himself as the first-choice left-back for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

The 25-year-old looks to be back to his best with some now calling for England boss Gareth Southgate to consider him for selection.

Shaw has opened up on his form and thinks his good relationship with Telles has helped his good form.

He said on MUTV: “I feel really good, obviously big credit to Ole for that for believing in me and pushing me.

“Alex [Telles] as well, we have a great relationship and he pushes me each day in training.

“We get on really well. It’s nice to have that type of competition, but we push each other to get the best from ourselves.

“When he plays, I want the best for him, and it’s the same the other way round. It’s a positive way for both of us to look at it and push each other.”

Shaw also relishes the chance to go up against likes of Salah and Sadio Mane.

“That is why you come to clubs like this: to play against the best players in massive matches,” he said.

“You always look forward to ones like this because they are going to test you. They are the best in their positions, both of them.

“They are very dangerous, but I think, not just me, we all defended really well today. We need to keep on doing that.”

Shaw admitted it was a bit flat in the dressing room after the goalless draw with their rivals.

“It’s a bit flat in the dressing room,” Shaw told the BBC.

“They had the majority of the ball but we all felt we could have won the game. They had chances but not clear-cut like ours.

“A point is better than none.

“We didn’t start well and we were on the back foot straight away. We dug in and created good chances.”

United stayed top of the Premier League table with the point at Anfield.

Manchester City are just one behind with a game in hand though as the title race hots up.
