Man Utd reject Everton clause as Van de Beek chooses Toffees over Crystal Palace
Manchester United midfielder Donny van de Beek is set to join Everton on loan for the remainder of the season after making a u-turn on a move to Crystal Palace.
The Dutchman had been set to move to Selhurst Park after the Eagles agreed the terms of a loan for the former Ajax midfielder.
However, with Frank Lampard set to take charge at Goodison Park, the Toffees have moved quickly to sign Van De Beek.
Everton have agreed to cover the midfielder’s £100,000-a-week wages in full and will put up a £500,000 loan fee to United.
However, despite their best efforts, United rejected Everton’s request to insert a to a right-to-buy clause in the deal.
That suggests the club still believe Van de Beek has a future at Old Trafford, despite the fact he’s made just four Premier League starts in 18 months at the club.
However, with United set to appoint a new manager this summer, the club want to postpone any decision about Van de Beek as he could be of use next season.
Amad Diallo and Anthony Martial have left United in the last week, on loan to Rangers and Sevilla respectively.
Jesse Lingard could be granted a move in the next 36 hours, with Newcastle United his likeliest destination.
Dean Henderson is also keen on leaving.
