Man Utd receive much-needed injury boost ahead of crunch Crystal Palace clash

Manchester United been handed an injury boost with the news that Edinson Cavani could be fit for their clash against Crystal Palace.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side travel to Selhurst Park on Wednesday playing catch-up to Premier League leaders Manchester City, who host United on Sunday.

And the possible return of Cavani following a muscle injury will be welcome news for United as they bid to keep the pressure on City.

But Paul Pogba will not be available as he continues his recovery from a thigh injury sustained in last month's draw with Everton.

Cavani has missed the Red Devils' last four games, including draws against West Brom and Chelsea which dented their title charge.

However, the striker trained on Tuesday, and is due to be in the squad for the clash against the Eagles provided he doesn't suffer a reaction.

"We're looking okay," said Solskjaer ahead of the game. "There's a couple of doubts for tomorrow that we have to give as much time as possible.

"Edinson trained, he joined in so that's good. Let's hope there's no reaction after the session. Hopefully he will travel with the squad."

Asked about Pogba, the United boss said: "Paul is still not ready for us, no.

"He's feeling better. He's not been training with the team yet so he's definitely not travelling down to London."

United will be hoping City slip up in their home game against Wolves on Tuesday night.

But if Pep Guardiola's side stretch their winning run to 21 games in all competitions they will stretch their lead to 15 points ahead of United's trip to face Palace.

Solskjaer's side can dent City's title charge in Sunday's Manchester derby at the Etihad.

And they will be eager for victory in South London to set them up ahead of that showdown, having won just two of their last eight Premier League games.
