Manchester United are preparing a £167million double swoop next summer with Erling Haaland and Declan Rice on their shortlist.

According to Team Talk, the hierarchy at Old Trafford want the Borussia Dortmund and West Ham stars to help make them title favourites.

Haaland will be in high demand next summer, with his £67million release clause becoming active.

The Norwegian striker has become one of the best players in Europe since his move to the Germany, with 47 goals in 48 Bundesliga games after he arrived from Red Bull Salzburg in 2020.

On top of his transfer value, The Sun report United will have to pay the 21-year-old wages of around £825,000-a-week.

Agent Mino Raiola would also receive a sum of £34million too.

Despite a number of fees to consider, teams will not be put off buying Haaland, with PSG and Chelsea also said to be in the running.

Another United target next summer could be Rice, in order to bolster what is arguably their weakest area on the pitch.

West Ham are certain not to accept anything less than £100million for the England international, with three years still remaining on his contract at the London Stadium.

The 22-year-old has continually improved since making his professional debut in 2015.

His performances have seen him become a regular in Gareth Southgate’s side, as he was integral to the Three Lions journey to the Euro 2020 final.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s current selection of defensive midfielders have come under fire at times, and an upgrade could follow.

Even with the additions of Cristiano Ronaldo, Jadon Sancho and Raphael Varane, United are still seen as being behind Chelsea, Manchester City and Liverpool in the race for the Premier League title.

They are unbeaten in the league so far, with four wins and one draw, but a 2-1 defeat against Young Boys in the Champions League did leave them open to criticism.
