Manchester United are said to be leading the race to sign Napoli striker Victor Osimhen this summer. And the Red Devils may have Chelsea star Kalidou Koulibaly to thank if a deal for Osimhen is struck. Napoli could have got £80million in exchange for Koulibaly if owner Aurelio De Laurentis had been willing to cash in on the defender sooner, according to reports.
But the Italian giants eventually got less than half of that amount by the time the Blues prised him away from the Diego Armando Maradona Stadium last summer. And Napoli don’t want to make the same mistake again.
Osimhen has been in incredible form this season and has bagged 25 goals in 29 games for his current employers in all competitions. And his three goals in Napoli’s Champions League last 16 showdown with Eintracht Frankfurt helped his side book their place in the quarter-finals of Europe’s top tier club competition earlier this month.
Osimhen is attracting plenty of attention from the top clubs around Europe. And, according to The Independent, Napoli are at least willing to negotiate with Manchester United on the player.

After missing out on top money for Koulibaly, Napoli have realised that when they are in the position they are as an upwardly mobile club, they need to cash in on one of their big stars for big money every one to two years in order to keep moving forward.
They may start negotiations at a high price, but that is in itself a bargaining position. And the Red Devils could be the team to benefit.
United have enjoyed a fine season under manager Erik ten Hag and look set to cement a top-four Premier League finish to secure their return to the Champions League. But the north west giants are desperate to bring in a new striker after struggling in front of goal at times throughout the campaign.

According to transfer expert Gianluca Di Marzio, Osimhen is United’s top priority this summer, and the 13-time Premier League champions are the favourites to land the 24-year-old. Napoli could let the blockbuster star leave for between £115m and £130m, which would be a Premier League transfer record.
Osimhen is contracted to his current club until the summer of 2025 and will be keen to get his hands on some silverware before he thinks about leaving Italy. Napoli are a staggering 19 points clear of Lazio at the top of Serie A and also have a last eight Champions League tie against AC Milan to look forward to next month.
