Manchester United have reportedly made an offer to sign Kingsley Coman from Bayern Munich in the summer transfer window. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has already made it clear that he wants to bolster his squad before the start of next season.

“I hope we will strengthen with two or three players we definitely need to challenge higher up the table,” Solskjaer said.

“We are too far behind to think it will come by itself.

“We’re not where we aim to be, we’ve got ambitions to move one place further up but it’s been steady improvement. We had a difficult start with a lack of pre-season and lost three of the first seven games.

“That put pressure on the team but they have managed it well and the players have been very good.”

Signing a winger is expected to be top of Solskjaer’s wishlist as Jadon Sancho continues to be linked with a move to Old Trafford.

Borussia Dortmund have reportedly dropped their asking price of £108million from last year.

But it appears as though United are looking at all options with a move for former target Coman potentially on the cards.

According to German publication Bild, Coman is in the midst of a contract stand-off with Munich.

The France international wants a payrise on his £200,000-a-week deal with Munich supposedly reluctant to meet those demands.

United though are said to have made contact with Coman to let him know that they’d be willing to pay him what he wants.

But Bayern reportedly don’t feel any need to rush discussions with Coman as he currently has two years left on his deal.

United are also in the market for a central defender to partner Harry Maguire.

Raphael Varane has emerged as a top target with reports in Spain suggesting Real Madrid are willing to listen to offers.

The Frenchman is out of contract in 2022 with discussions on a contract extension seemingly stalled.

Real themselves want to make big changes in the summer having failed to win a trophy this season for the first time since 2010.

And they may well be looking to cash in on Varane to help them pursue other targets.
