Man Utd line up Coman, midfielder eyes departure and Trippier bid ‘rejected’
Manchester United’s summer will be significant as they prepare to improve their squad and close the gap between themselves and league winners Manchester City.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side have long been in pursuit of Borussia Dortmund’s Jadon Sancho, but are also looking to bolster other positions such as central midfield, centre-half and right-back.
Having comfortably secured Champions League qualification, finishing above the likes of Liverpool and Chelsea, United are now plotting a title charge.
They’ve made plans in case Sancho doesn’t arrive, while a few departures are a possibility for the Old Trafford club.
Daily Star Sport has taken a look at Manchester United’s latest transfer news below.
Coman an alternative
German outlet Sport 1 are expecting Manchester United to make a bid for Bayern Munich star Kingsley Coman this summer.
However, Coman is only seen as the back-up option to Jadon Sancho, should a move for Borussia Dortmund’s English star fail to materialise, it is reported.
United have been in discussions with Dortmund but are still a bit off the German side’s asking fee and will only look to other options should talks break down completely.
Pereira wants to go
Manchester United midfielder Andreas Pereira is looking to leave the club permanently this summer, having left for Lazio on loan last season, it is reported.
Manchester Evening News says Lazio are not interested in taking Pereira on a permanent basis because of the costs associated with the player, which could be up to €27m.
There is interest from clubs in Spain and Italy, but Pereira himself wants to avoid a loan spell and get a long-term deal away from Old Trafford.
Would Kingsley Coman be a good alternative to Jadon Sancho? Let us know in the comments below.
Trippier bid rejected
Spanish outlet Mundo Deportivo say Manchester United’s £10m bid for Atletico Madrid’s English right-back Kieran Trippier has been rejected.
Atletico Madrid will only consider offers that match Trippier’s £35m valuation, but United are reluctant to pay that as they want to add depth to their squad.
United only have Aaron Wan-Bissaka and Brandon Williams as their senior right-back options and want to add some experience to their squad in the form of Trippier.
