Man Utd icon Paul Scholes leaves Rio Ferdinand drooling with Insta training clip

Manchester United hero Paul Scholes shows his legendary technique has not left him in a brilliant training clip on Instagram – and former team-mate Rio Ferdinand liked what he saw.

Scholes is regarded by many as one of the greatest midfielders in Premier League history, spending close to two decades pulling the strings for United.

He racked up 718 appearances in his iconic stint at Old Trafford, registering 152 goals and 75 assists while winning 11 Premier League titles, three FA Cups, two League Cups and as many Champions Leagues.

The 46-year-old has been retired for the last eight years, hanging up his boots for good after returning to help Sir Alex Ferguson clinch his last title in 2013.

Nevertheless, in a video shared on Instagram Scholes clearly hasn't lost any of that famous technique.

The former England star carries out a training drill with son Arron, who is working as a personal trainer and one-to-one football coach.

He first heads a few balls to Arron while moving around a giant tyre, before firing two superb shots into the back of the net.

Scholes then cushions the ball back to his son on the volley while moving around the tyre and completes another header, before sending a final effort at goal wide.

Ferdinand, who shared a dressing room with Scholes at United for over a decade, couldn't resist waxing lyrical about his old team-mate in the comments section.

The former Red Devils defender simply posted: "Sat Nav!!"

Scholes was given the nickname 'Sat Nav' by his United team-mates because of his unique ability to find them with a pass from all areas of the pitch.

His training drill with Arron was in preparation for this year's Soccer Aid event, which he will be taking part in on September 4.
