Man Utd hiring someone to polish their trophies – but they must have a degree
Manchester United chiefs want someone to dust their trophies – but they must have a degree.
And the ideal candidate must not only be a dab hand with a duster and have been to university, but the club also wants someone with a post-graduate qualification.
The Premier League giants are looking to recruit a worker to take a position in the club’s museum at Old Trafford where they house replicas of the Champions League and Premier League trophies.

And the curatorial assistant must also be a whiz at putting items in boxes in “suitable packaging”.
Would-be museum staff are told by the club that the job will entail “leaning, photographing and redisplaying items in the Museum”.
The ideal person will be educated to “degree level with a postgraduate qualification in Museum Studies, or equivalent is desirable”.
An ad reveals: “The Curatorial Assistant will provide essential support for the Head of Heritage, Collections & Exhibitions Lead, collections management and assisting with the organization of the Museum’s exhibition program along with cleaning and redisplaying the permanent displays which will be major parts of the job role.
“Tasks will include assisting with the creation of displays, collection management and dealing with public enquiries.”
And an “interest in football and football history would be an advantage”.

United will be hoping that the successful candidate will be able to get their hands on the FA Cup trophy alongside the EFL Cup currently in United’s possession following their Wembley success in February against Newcastle United.
Erik ten Hag’s side’s success ended the club’s five year wait for a trophy after they last picked up the Europa League under Jose Mourinho in 2017.
The trophy rooms at Old Trafford are packed to the rafters from United’s success throughout their rich history, although I doubt there are many people out there who had dusting cups at Old Trafford as their dream job whilst at university.
