Man Utd hero Rio Ferdinand claims he knew about Sancho "when he was a baby"
Manchester United legend Rio Ferdinand claims he was aware of Jadon Sancho's talent "when he was a baby" ahead of his move to Old Trafford.
Sancho is finally set to become a United player after the club agreed a £72.9million deal with Borussia Dortmund, putting an end to almost two years worth of speculation.
The England star will complete his medical and put pen to paper on a five-year Red Devils deal once Euro 2020 has drawn to a close.
He arrives with plenty of expectation after developing into one of the brightest young talents in world football at Dortmund, registering a total of 50 goals and 64 assists in 137 games.
And Ferdinand insists he has known about Sancho's unique abilities for quite some time.
“One of my best friends was with him growing up. I knew about him from when he was a baby," the former United defender said on his FIVE YouTube channel.
"My friend said to me, ‘listen, this kid is going to be mad’.
Do you think Jadon Sancho will turn Manchester United into Premier League title contenders next season? Let us know in the comments section below.
“From when he was like six, seven, eight, nine years old he was taking him, doing training with him and I’m sure Jadon would tell you he played a significant role in his early stages.
“And he used to say to me, ‘listen, he’s a mad talent’, and I never really used to see him because I was busy playing, off doing my thing.
“He was seeing it, then all of a sudden, he’s off at Watford doing his thing, then all of a sudden, he moved from Watford to Man City and my friend was saying, ‘see, I told you’.
“I knew some people at Man City, I’m asking questions and they’re saying, ‘Rio, this kid’s fire, he’s different’.
“They’ve got Foden, they’ve got Sancho. Who’s better? Some are saying Foden, some are saying Sancho.
