Man Utd have seven new priorities as Shaw ‘agrees four-year deal’
Man United: Luke Shaw discusses his past injuries
Manchester United star Luke Shaw has reportedly agreed a fresh four-year contract with the club. The England international is an important player for Erik ten Hag at Old Trafford, and his decision to stay on represents a boost. Now, the club have nine other priorities they need to address.
Shaw has scored one goal and weighed in with six assists for United from 35 appearances across all competitions this season.
And The Athletic say the former Southampton star, who joined back when Louis van Gaal was manager in 2014, is poised to pen a four-year extension.
United have been keen to keep Shaw, with the defender’s ‘growing maturity and presence around the squad’ appealing to Ten Hag.
Certainly, he’s kicked on drastically having initially struggled to win round the likes of Van Gaal and Jose Mourinho.
Express Sport now takes a look at nine other priorities the club have, ranging from Marcel Sabitzer to Alejandro Garnacho.
Man Utd takeover: Man Utd making plans for five players
Marcel Sabitzer
Marcel Sabitzer has impressed at United since joining from Bayern Munich back in the January transfer window.
However, with his loan deal due to expire at the end of the season, the Red Devils have a decision to make.
The Austria international seems to be worth keeping. He’s not put a foot wrong during his spell at Old Trafford and a permanent deal would suit all involved, including Bayern themselves.
David De Gea
It’s recently been reported that David De Gea recently turned down the offer of a new United contract.
But the Spain international is still expected to stay, despite the club being linked with the likes of Diogo Costa and David Raya.
United need his experience and though De Gea’s distribution can be improved, his shot-stopping remains impressive.

Marcus Rashford
United have seen Marcus Rashford shine this term, with the England international registering 27 goals across all competitions.
At present, his current deal is due to expire in 2024.
But the Red Devils need Rashford to stay and we expect that to happen, despite Paris Saint-Germain showing an interest.
Diogo Dalot
Diogo Dalot hasn’t always been a regular at United since his move from Porto in the summer of 2018.
The Portugal international is, though, drastically improved from the full-back who walked in the door nearly five years ago.
Dalot is another player United want to extend his contract and while Barcelona are circling, staying at Old Trafford seems far more likely.

Alejandro Garnacho
Alejandro Garnacho is United’s future.
And, fortunately for the Red Devils, all signs point to the Argentine committing his future to the club.
United know Garnacho is a superstar in the making and he feels happy in Manchester, having overcome some difficult periods during his time in England so far.
Fred
Yes, Fred can be a divisive player.
But the United star has kicked on this term, proving to be a useful player for Ten Hag especially when being paired alongside compatriot Casemiro.
United do need midfield upgrades, of course, but Fred is still worth keeping ahead of the likes of Scott McTominay and Donny van de Beek. Like Garnacho, Dalot, Rashford and De Gea, his deal is due to expire next year.
Wan-Bissaka
Aaron Wan-Bissaka has, like Dalot, struggled for consistency at times.
But he’s become more of a Fred-like figure at the club these days due to his drastic improvement, having previously been tipped to leave.
With Wan-Bissaka now operating at the peak of his powers once again, especially defensively, there’s more of a benefit to keeping the former Crystal Palace star instead of selling.
Who should leave?
Wout Weghorst’s short-term deal at United is due to expire at the end of the campaign.
And with the Netherlands international bagging just four times since his arrival, a parting of ways would be wise.
United should cut Victor Lindelof loose, too, with the Sweden international unlikely to be a regular in the team again.
And the same can be said of Anthony Martial, too, who has struggled for regular action this term amid ongoing injury issues.
